We bought a really good ice cream freezer for a birthday gift to ourselves earlier this month. We liked that this was a self-contained unit, that you didn’t need to freeze a bowl or buy salt and ice. You seriously could decide you want ice cream, mix up some and freeze it within the hour.
Last night, we broke out the book of recipes that came with the machine. Most were weird, but we decided the orange cream sherbet would be nice. We mixed it up, and voila. Creamy orangey goodness.
We are expecting a lot of people through the house this sunny weekend, so we’re going to do up another batch this morning: Wolfgang Puck’s Jack Daniels Chocolate Chip.
Now the kids are on the ice cream flavor bandwagon.
“The good news is, we’ve created flavors for Mom and Dad and Lola and Georgia…” they told us. “The bad news is, we don’t have enough money.”
Specifically, they would need more than $200 to buy what they created on ecreamery.com.
Lucky for us, we don’t need to have some company make our ice cream dreams come true. This should be a fun summer indeed, with ice cream always at the ready and our creative juices really flowing!

Flavors for Lola & Georgia? I must know details. What flavor combination would represent a recalcitrant 2 year-old? I figure it’s something hot and spicy with plenty of energy for Lo. Tabasco & Caffeine?

For what it’s worth, we tried the new Haagen Dazs flavor Honey Bee Vanilla and were less than impressed. It’s a decent ice cream, but nothing special. Their Hawaiian Honey Vanilla offering is about a million times better. So don’t waste the calories on less than perfection!
