Hours of Devours

Why are these the best?

Jay’s Kettle Cooked.

Jays

We’ve been chip connesseurs for some time, sampling everything from the local extra greasy store brands (Albertson’s) to the fresh fried rosemary, sage and sea salt chips at one of our favorite local places, Sapphire.

Somehow, we keep coming back to the Jays Kettle Cooked, they make other varieties but none of them are worth the hassle of filling a suitcase with bags and checking it on every trip back to CA from St Louis. We hear that the company is now in Chapter 11 so this may be the end of the line for our Jays fix. If that’s the case, we’ll be looking for a replacement. We have good memories of Wise from growing on the east coast and many swear by Utz but hopefully someone will step in and keep these chips alive.

Actually, I think that I can come up with something better. For a while, trips to St. Louis and Springfield involved a stop at a grocery store on the outskirts of Lincoln, IL for these. I had grown up eating Jay’s and had always been told how good these things are. Now, I am fortunately able to get them at the grocery stores here in town where I go to school. Give a couple of bags a try, and something tells me that you won’t miss Jay’s as much.

Do you know taquitos.net? G is the penultimate chip freak. I think he has even submitted reviews there. Whenever we travel, we have to hit the local supermarkets and sample the local fare (ie. chips).
